Staying Safe & Self Defence Tuition
for Young Women age 13-19
Woodvale & Ainsdale Community Association will be running a seven week course.
WHERE: Ainsdale Recreation Centre, (Previously known as BODS)
Orchard Lane, Ainsdale.PR8 3RG (off Sandbrook Rd)
WHEN: Tuesday evenings
DATES : 28 September – 16 Novemeber 2010 (no session ½ term 26 October)
TIME: 6.30pm-8.00pm
COURSE CONTENT:
Course content is based on awareness, avoidance and appropriate action. In addition to self-defense techniques there will be discussions around: how to manage difficult situations, develop assertive techniques, staying safe, and confidence building.
Working in partnership with our Martial Arts Club, the Police, and youth workers, we aim to empower young women with the knowledge that they can and should look after themselves at all times. All our course instructors have approved CRB checks.
Participants, who attend all sessions, will gain the ASDAN short course Activities Award accreditation.
The course is open to all young women aged 13- 19. No special outfit is required – just wear loose clothing (e.g. tracksuit bottoms and a t-shirt). Changing facilities and showers are available in the Recreation Centre.
